Truck and other motor vehicle engine assemblies - Engine mounts

In most cases, technicians only need to screw the engine onto the factory designed assembly system. But sometimes, regulations regarding engine installation cannot be taken for granted.
The engine of a vehicle traditionally uses a three-point installation system, with only one forward point around which the unit can rotate, and there are two points on the steering wheel or transmission housing. For some engines, the shape of the front suspension is an extension or shaft on the centerline of the crankshaft. The sleeves position the shaft horizontally while allowing the engine to rotate. To simplify assembly and provide more control over elasticity, other engines use a rigid bracket that is screwed onto the distribution cover and extends to both sides of the rubber bracket on the frame.
The rear bracket is usually screwed onto the steering wheel cover to position the engine front and rear, while also transmitting torque reaction to the frame. In order to control vibration, the stiffness of the component must be about one tenth of the frame stiffness.
